The customer approached Buffalo to redesign their existing log washer teeth, which were being sourced from a competitor and featured a shell-like pattern. The current design was not delivering the desired wear life, and the customer was seeking a more durable solution. Their goal was to transition to a square-pattern design that could better withstand the demands of their application and extend service life.
Buffalo’s engineering team developed a custom square-pattern log washer tooth using XP material, reinforced internally with metal to increase strength and durability. The redesigned teeth were heavier and more robust than the competitor’s version, providing improved structural integrity and wear resistance in high-impact conditions.
The customer has been highly satisfied with the performance of Buffalo’s design and is currently conducting a side-by-side comparison to determine a long-term supplier. Early feedback from field operators strongly favors Buffalo’s teeth over the competitor’s, citing improved performance and durability.
Buffalo has already outperformed several competing solutions in this evaluation. Upon completion of final testing, the customer plans to fully transition and stock their warehouse with Buffalo’s log washer teeth. The customer has also expressed a clear preference for XP material over standard urethane, and discussions are underway to expand the partnership into additional applications, including urethane 1x1 panels.
