Eliminating Screen Blinding: How PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screens Increased Production by Approximately 1,000 Cubic Meters

PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screens ended silt blinding and lifted production by approximately 1,000 cubic meters.

Eliminating Screen Blinding: How PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screens Increased Production by Approximately 1,000 Cubic Meters

01. The Challenge

An aggregate operation was experiencing continuous silt blinding on 1/4" woven screens installed on the third deck of its screening equipment.

When water was present, the woven screens repeatedly clogged, forcing the operation to stop production to clean the deck. These interruptions reduced overall production, contributed to finished-product contamination, and created additional rework.

02. The Solution

After evaluating the application in the field, Buffalo recommended PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screens for the third deck.

The PFX™ wires' independent vibration was designed to prevent material from lodging in the openings, reducing blinding while maintaining material movement across the screening surface. The operation chose to trial 1/4" PFX™ screens in the problem area.

03. The Result

After installing the PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screens, the operation reported no screen-blinding events and maintained continuous production.

The cleaner screening surface also improved finished-product cleanliness and eliminated rework that was previously required. Most notably, the operation reported an increase of approximately 1,000 cubic meters in production after the change.
