More Than 3 Years of Jaw Die Wear Life: How a Custom Jaw Die Design Reduced Maintenance and Downtime

01. The Challenge

The customer was replacing the jaw dies on a Telsmith 10×30 jaw crusher approximately once every year due to excessive wear. The frequent replacements led to scheduled maintenance shutdowns, higher maintenance costs, and reduced equipment availability. The customer needed a longer-lasting solution without sacrificing crushing performance.

02. The Solution

Buffalo evaluated the application and redesigned the Buffalo Jaw Dies to increase wear material in critical areas. The updated design increased the thickness by 1 inch on the Swing Die and 2 inches on the Fixed Die, creating a heavy-duty profile engineered specifically for the customer's operating conditions while maintaining proper crushing performance.

03. The Result

The redesigned Buffalo Jaw Dies were installed in 2023, and the customer is still operating with the same set today.
