This operation required a consistent production of 25,000 tons per week, making uptime critical. Frequent screen changeouts were creating unnecessary downtime and disrupting production targets. The customer was using Flex-Mat screens from a local supplier but was seeking a solution that could deliver longer wear life and reduce maintenance interruptions across their 16 portable sites in the Southwest.
Buffalo supplied PFX™/HT screens designed to extend wear life and minimize downtime associated with screen changeouts. TechSquad® evaluated the application and recommended the appropriate wire size to optimize performance.
Following installation, a site inspection identified that the center of the screens was not maintaining proper tension compared to the sides. To address this, Buffalo recommended installing J-bolts on the center crown bar to ensure consistent tension and prevent screen movement.
The customer quickly implemented the J-bolt recommendation and established a routine tension check every two weeks. After 14 weeks of operation, the screens continue to perform successfully, demonstrating extended wear life and improved stability.
The results have proven highly valuable to the operation, and the customer is now expanding the use of PFX™/HT by requesting additional screens with larger openings for similar applications at other sites.
