How PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screen Media Increased Production During the Rainy Season

01. The Challenge

The customer was using a competitor's woven wire screen media on the third deck of a screening plant. During the rainy season, the 1/4-inch screen media became heavily blinded, requiring frequent shutdowns for screen cleaning. The excessive blinding reduced plant uptime, interrupted production, and required reprocessing of material.

02. The Solution

Following an on-site evaluation, Buffalo recommended replacing the existing screen media with 1/4-inch PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screen Media. The independent wire vibration generated by the PFX™ design minimizes screen blinding, improves material flow, and increases screening efficiency. After reviewing the recommendation, the customer approved a field trial and installed the PFX™ screen media on the third deck.

03. The Result

After implementing 1/4-inch PFX™ Self-Cleaning Screen Media, the customer achieved immediate improvements in plant performance.

  • Complete elimination of screen blinding
  • Continuous plant operation with reduced unplanned downtime
  • Cleaner final product
  • Eliminated the need to reprocess material
  • Increased production by approximately 2,000 cubic meters during the rainy season
