Buffalo Urethane Tension Mats outlasted the previous 3–4 week service life with no premature wear — leading to a full-deck conversion.

An aggregate operation experienced premature urethane tension mat failure on the top deck of an 8' × 20' split-deck screen. The existing mats tore and delaminated after only 3–4 weeks of service while processing highly aggressive material across two shifts.
After reviewing the application and installation, Buffalo confirmed that overtightening and incorrect mat dimensions were not contributing to the premature wear. The operation wanted to remain with urethane tension mats but needed a more durable solution that could withstand the demanding application.
Rather than requiring a complete change at once, Buffalo recommended a controlled trial using Buffalo Urethane Tension Mats in the top two screen positions.
This approach let the operation evaluate performance in the highest-wear area while limiting the initial investment and reducing the risk of switching suppliers.
The Buffalo Urethane Tension Mats were installed in early August and remained in operation through the end of September with no signs of premature wear and consistent, even wear across the mats—already significantly exceeding the previous 3–4 week service life.
Based on the successful trial, the operation ordered additional Buffalo mats for the middle and bottom decks, where they are also performing well, with plans to ultimately convert the entire deck to Buffalo Urethane Tension Mats.
