The customer had relied on woven wire screening media for decades, with minimal changes to specifications or application. However, corporate leadership challenged the Pineville site to improve operational efficiency and identify more robust, longer-lasting screening solutions. The existing media lacked the durability needed to meet evolving performance expectations.

Buffalo recommended transitioning to PFX™/HT panels in place of standard round wire self-cleaning media. Although the customer initially considered a competitor’s lower-cost round wire option, we proposed a side-by-side trial—installing two PFX™/HT panels alongside the competing product. This allowed for a direct, real-world performance comparison under identical operating conditions.

The PFX™/HT panels outperformed the competition with a 2:1 increase in wear life. Despite a higher upfront cost, the long-term value was immediately clear through extended durability and reduced changeout frequency. The customer moved forward with a full panel order, and the PFX™/HT panels continue to perform successfully on the dry deck. The success of this trial has positioned Buffalo for expanded use across additional decks within the facility.
