The customer was processing riverbed material with a high concentration of sticky mud, which caused severe blinding on their screens. Their priority was to find a solution that would stay clean during operation and offer durability comparable to urethane, ideally lasting an entire season without frequent changeouts. The excessive blinding drastically reduced throughput and efficiency, creating a bottleneck in their process.
After evaluating the application with our TechSquad™, we recommended flexible urethane tension mats, explicitly engineered for sticky material applications. These screens provided excellent performance in both installation and operation. While we discussed the potential of using PFX™HT screens, the superior wear life of urethane made it the preferred choice. The customer had experience with urethane screens in other wash plants and was confident in their longevity. Conversely, their previous use of woven wire screens at this site had resulted in recurring blinding and rapid wear, which made them hesitant to use any wire-based solution again, even one as innovative as PFX™HT.
The customer now operates with a clean, consistently performing screen deck that enables expected throughput. By trusting the TechSquad™ recommendation, they achieved both their performance and wear-life goals, boosting plant efficiency and reducing downtime.
